Restaurante La Aquarela is situated in front of Anfi Del Mar, in the south of Gran Canaria. With a longevity of more than 30 years and an objective in mind, to offer pleasure in tasting food in a privileged atmosphere.
The degustation menus are based on the latest creations by our Head Chef German Ortega bringing together the best local seasonal products, top quality meat, fish and seafood, combining flavours, colours and textures to surprise and delight the most discerning diners.
La Aquarela rounded its qualities with the arrival of its owner Gregorio Fernández, he not only continues the reputation of La Aquarela on the island, but he consolidates its name, making a great host.
In his constant evolution, he knows how to combine quality and consistency, offering its distinguished clientele a place return, a place to enjoy wonderful moments.
Germán Ortega, Executive Chef of Restaurant La Aquarela, was born in Las Palmas Gran Canaria and left the island in 1997 to travel. He has special memories of the restaurant "Vassa Eggen" in Stockholm, restaurant “The Letonnie" England, awarded two Michelin stars, and finally the Hacienda Benazuza “El Bulli Hotel" with two Michelin stars.
This culinary pilgrimage gave the basis of the kitchen, with a mixture of traditional and modern cuisine. In 2002 he returned to Gran Canaria to work in restaurante La Aquarela, where he developed his knowledge and which was rewarded in 2012 when he was awarded “Best Chef in the Canary Islands” according to the "¡Qué bueno! Canarias" guide.
Born in Serbia in 1974, he has studied in the best training centers in Serbia and Spain. In 2009, he celebrated 17 years in the sector and continued his career in the famous Restaurante La Aquarela.
He is passionate about everything related to the world of wine.
